Here on the Reader Spot, I share the bookish love of our avid book reviewers. From young adult to historical romance, chick-lit to a murder mystery, they know what they like, and they’re happy to share.  Whether you are a reader looking for a new book, or a writer wondering what your reader wants, I hope you find this series enjoyable.

What genre do you enjoy reading?

I prefer psychological suspense/thrillers but like all crime really. I also read Women’s Fiction, and I love a bit of erotic romance!

Do you have a favourite author in this genre?

Too many to mention really!! But I love Harlan Coben and Linwood Barclay. Also Alex Marwood, Belinda Bauer, Samantha Hayes, Sophie Hannah, Amanda Jennings, Louise Candlish….I better stop there as I could probably go on all day and I know as soon as I’ve hit send on this email I will think of half a dozen more!!

How do you prefer to read your books?

I read on both but mainly Kindle. I read for hours when I go to bed at night, and it’s an easier option (the other being that my husband will be a grumpy bugger as I have to read paperback books with the light on, and I read till 2 or 3 in the morning most nights).

Where do you purchase your books?

Amazon mainly but love a good browse around Waterstones. I also always seem to add books to my trolley while doing the weekly shop. No idea how that happens!

Where do you find out about the books you read?

The Book Club on Facebook and also Book Connectors are both huge influences on what I buy but mainly it’s other bloggers who I trust implicitly as I know enough about the way they review to know what books I need to buy NOW!

Do you have a budget when buying books?  Do you stick to it if you do?

No budget!!!

Do you write a review when you’ve finished reading?  If so, where do you post this?

I always review every book I read and always review on Goodreads, Amazon and on my blog. I have to write my review straight away as I can’t move on to read anything else until I do.

What do you look for in a book?

I just want to be swept away into another world, where nothing else matters apart from what’s in that book. I like to be surprised, and that’s why I am harder to please nowadays as its harder to think of new and interesting plot twists I guess.

Where do you like to read?

I read everywhere. I’ve even been known to get in my car and just drive somewhere to park up and read if things are getting too much for me as I find it very restful to be parked by the sea. But mainly I love to read in bed and on holiday. My Kindle is a gift for holiday reading as I used to pack my suitcase with 14 books for a two week holiday!

What social media platforms are you active on?

I use Facebook mainly to share my blog page. I’m also on Twitter. I did have Snapchat but had to delete it off my phone as I have a dated iPhone 4 with absolutely no storage space on it! Which is also why I never read on my phone.
