If you follow me on Facebook, you will notice the abundance of posts I share about my crazy black cat, Luna. Since she exploded into our lives a year ago, we have been captivated by her personality, love, and character. Having never had a fluffy pet before (you can’t cuddle a goldfish!) I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much joy we have experienced since Luna arrived.

I’ve read about the meditative benefits of owning and caring for a pet, but until Luna became a part of our family, I hadn’t realised just how beneficial it was, not just for me, but for my children. Luna is a tonic for the mind, body, and soul.

So, when I spotted a sponsored thread on my Facebook feed just before Christmas, to have your pet immortalised within the pages of a book I jumped at the chance. The only fault I could find with this product is the inability to add more than one ‘owner’ name. As I have three children, it was a tough decision as to who I chose to be the star of the book alongside Luna. In the end, and to ensure there were no festive tantrums, I decided to treat myself and used my name! Okay, okay, I probably should have purchased three books!!

Petlandia allows you to choose a pet (cat, dog or rabbit) and customise to suit your needs, including fur colour, eyes, pattern, and collar. You can then input your pet’s name, the owner’s name (or child’s name), and the town you live.

Once ordered you can sit back and relax and await your personalised delivery. The story is written by Steve Cleverley with illustrations by Katja Hammond, and the duo make an impressive team. I was delighted with my finished product. In my version, Luna dreams of going to Hollywoof to become a star. She leaves home and flies halfway across the world where she achieves her dream of becoming an online superstar with 50 million views on her YouChew channel. But in the end, Luna misses home and her owner (that’s me!).

Jumping into Shelley’s arms Luna cried with joy,

then Shelley squeezed the squeaker in a squishy, squashy toy.

Since my three children arrived at the interesting teenage stage of their development, I’ve missed reading picture books. I was, therefore, thrilled with my personalised book, Luna’s Adventures in Petlandia which took me back to when the kids were younger. The story is told in rhyme with stunning illustrations. The tale (no pun intended) is heart-warming and even got an ‘aww, that’s gorgeous’ out of my fourteen-year-old daughter.

I can’t recommend this product enough. If you have a child who adores their pet, or if you are, like me, a self-confessed crazy cat lady, then I urge you to get your own version of this book.

Here are what the critics are saying…

“Woof woofity woof woof bark bark woof!” The Hollywoof Reporter *****

“Meow, meow, meow, meow…PURR!” Mew York Times *****

“A truly pawsome read!” Rex Growl *****
