#FilmReview Kingsman: The Golden Circle

I’ve been ticking off the days on my calendar waiting for this movie to release and I wasn’t disappointed.

Within thirty seconds of it starting you’re thrown into the action with a fight scene and car chase that would put Fast and Furious to shame. Who knew a black cab could drift so well! I’m sure Richard Hammond would have been safer in one of these bad boys.

Taron Egerton returns as everyone’s favourite agent, Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin with the addition of a regal, romantic interest (played by Hanna Alstrom), more sharp suits, and the same cheeky character.

It’s the same setup as before but with enough twists and turns to keep it fresh. There’s a new psychotic bad girl on the radar played brilliantly by Julianne Moore, who destroys Kingsman leaving the surviving agents with no choice but to activate Doomsday protocol. This means it’s time for the British agents of Kingsman to work with their American cousins, the Statesmen.

Heading up the all American team is Jeff Bridges, who plays Champ. His crew includes quite a few familiar faces such as Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal (from Game of Thrones), and Channing Tatum.

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this film. The storyline was still fun even though the cast did all their character growth in the first film. Without the necessary build up we could get straight down to the fight scenes which were as entertaining as you’d expect, although I’m sure there was more blood and gore this time! There was one squirmy scene with a tracking device that might jar you out of the fun, but I’ll let you discover that one on your own!

I have to give an extra five stars to Sir Elton John! His role was genius and had the entire cinema laughing. The film soundtrack is pretty epic too!

All in all, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a brilliant, laugh out loud movie with plenty of action, bad language, and heart-warming scenes. Easily a 5 out of 5 from me.

    1. I used to read the ‘proper’ reviews and often wondered how any movie made money as most of the critics had something to grumble about. I stopped reading these reviews and just went to the films I thought looked good. The first Kingsman film was brilliant so it was inevitable that I’d go and see the second. I’m sure the critics will have something technical to say about it but from a ‘normal’ person’s pov it was a great night out with plenty of laughs.

Thanks for the lovely review Shelly……the movie is due for a Friday[tomorrow] release here in India and I have already booked……:)……and your review is just the kick I needed……yes you are right, most of the reviews generally we see discourage us in so many ways to see a movie……the best review is of course a self review after watching the movie.

      2. And yes, as I told you earlier, yesterday I watched the movie. Surprised and thoroughly entertained to find Sir Elton in his new role….:):)…..yes, a very mean looking machine the black cab was and boy it got us into super drive mode right from the very beginning. Egsy was as brilliant as rest of the crew and with all the pyro technic and hyper actions and the humor, the story was fun to watch and very true to the Kingsman style and at the end it gave us ample idea of seeing much more of Channing Tatum in the future editions of the franchise……..:):)

  7. Saw it last night, Shelley. Had mixed feelings going into it, because I thought, like a lot of sequels, it wouldn’t be as good as the first. Conclusion: it wasn’t, but it was still a bloody good film (it had a lot to live up to!), and a very entertaining evening out. And Elton stole the show, as far as I’m concerned. Though he did remind me of Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown in his last costume.

  8. I read a review of this in The Times while waiting at hospital recently – it caught my eye because I’d seen it on your blog! The 1* review said it was appalling, trite garbage, ha ha!!!! I would love to see a newspaper critic say, yes, it’s a load of shite, but I really enjoyed it. Because sometimes you KNOW something is as daft as hell, but you still really like it – I can just imagine what that guy (Keith something) would say about TWD!!

    1. Haha, absolutely! The critics annoy me. I watched Baywatch when it came out and yes, it was pretty crap but I laughed in all the right places and thoroughly enjoyed two hours off! They need to take a chill pill and go see the kiddie films to recapture the magic of cinema again!
