Lindisfarne is Book 2 in the Project Renova series, sequel to Tipping Point (Book 1). A book of related short stories, entitled Patient Zero, features back and side-stories from minor characters, and should be available in November, 2017. Book 3 is due in mid 2018.

My Review:

Lindisfarne is the second book in the Project Renova series and after the explosive start in book one, Tipping Point (read my review for this HERE) I was interested to see how the story would evolve.

As a huge fan of post-apocalyptic novels, I enjoyed reading the individual pockets of stories as to how each character was coping with the end of life as they know it. I’m fairly certain that if something this catastrophic happened in real life, we would divide into leaders, workers, and looters. The author has a true skill for character development and these divisions in the community are well structured and cultivated.

In Tipping Point (book one) we are introduced to Vicky and her teenage daughter Lottie as they struggle with personal issues as well as the ever-changing landscape. They arrive at Lindisfarne with the hope of a better life with the friends they’ve met on their journey. I loved how young Lottie evolves into a valuable member of the community. Each chapter is taken from a different character’s perspective, and Lottie’s were among my favourite. She has stepped up and taken control of her new life and has to deal with issues beyond her young years.

Characters come and go as the Lindisfarne community settle into new roles. As the book progressed, I began to loathe Dex more and more as his ego takes over any sensibility and loyalty. I was fascinated to read more about Wedge after his fiery arrival in Tipping Point, and I wasn’t disappointed. He is a cold and calculated character who stirs up the community enough to add spice and plot twists that will make your hair stand on end.

Minor characters also have a powerful impact on the remaining residents of Lindisfarne, and as we root for their survival we are teased with a rebuild project, and the prospect of a ‘big brother is watching you’ situation which I’m sure will be explored in book three.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was happily invested in the characters stories. Therefore, I wasn’t prepared for the explosive twists in the latter part of the book. I had a few late nights as I couldn’t stop reading to find out what happened!

I’m looking forward to reading book three when it’s released.
