This small-town romance has taken TikTok by storm, and I can see why. With a cute small-town setting, seasonal appeal (who doesn’t love a bit of pumpkin spice!), relatable characters, and a classic grumpy vs sunshine dynamic, this book is the perfect escape if you’re craving something sweet and satisfying.
Jeanie takes over the Pumpkin Spice Cafe in the quaint town of Dream Harbor. Determined to make a fresh start, she dives headfirst into her new role. Enter Logan, a handsome, brooding local farmer with a loathing for Dream Harbor’s relentless small-town gossip. Jeanie’s arrival throws Logan’s carefully ordered life into a spin, and he’s not thrilled about it. Despite his initial resistance, there’s an undeniable spark between them that even Logan can’t ignore.
Dream Harbor is somewhere I’d like to visit. It reminds me of Covington in Atlanta, which I visited earlier this year. It feels alive with its local charm and quirky residents, adding layers of warmth and fun to the story.
Jeanie’s upbeat personality and Logan’s brooding create a tension that’s both fun and flirty. It’s easy to root for them from the start. Jeanie is a relatable protagonist, brimming with determination and vulnerability as she navigates her new life. Meanwhile, Logan is the classic grumpy hero with a soft centre.
Although The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a great example of a sweet small-town romance, the plot is fairly predictable, and the resolution is exactly what you’d expect from a book promising a Happily Ever After. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Sometimes, a cosy romance that’s an easy read is exactly what you need! I finished this in a day and felt warm and fuzzy at the end, so that’s a tick in the box for me.
It was light-hearted, sweet, and totally binge-worthy!
