Celebrating Icon Audrey Hepburn

Monday Muse

Inspirational people surround us at every turn.  To celebrate some of the incredible women who continue to motivate me on my writing journey I post a Monday Muse dedicated to the women/characters who are my artistic inspiration.

Last time I honoured author, Louise Hay. You can read that post HERE.  Today, I’m devoting the Monday Muse to the much-loved actress, Audrey Hepburn.

I’m so happy that my thirteen-year-old daughter is an avid Audrey Hepburn fan too, it means we can have girlie nights full of popcorn and golden oldie films. I’ll never forget the first time I sat her down to watch Roman Holiday. She thought the telly was broken until I explained what ‘black and white’ films were all about! A Doorway To...

A Doorway to… #FlashFiction Writing Challenge

Inspired by one of my Pinterest boards, this is a flash fiction writing challenge based on the following theme:

‘Doorway to…’

“The door you are afraid to enter might lead you to the most beautiful and magical places.”

Using one of the images below as inspiration, write a 200-word flash fiction story about what lies beyond the door. Who will you find and where will the doorway lead you? Any genre is acceptable. NB: As I write for a teen audience, please be aware that under 18’s frequent my blog.

Would You BUY or PASS? Snow White Lies by Sarah J Pepper #FridayFiveChallenge #YA

Welcome to the ‘Friday Five Challenge.’

Would you BUY or PASS if you had only a thumbnail image and five minutes to decide?

Here is my contribution for this week:

I didn’t have to type anything into the search bar on Amazon to find a Friday Five book this week, it was the power of Twitter that influenced my choice.  Rosie Amber retweeted a book link earlier in the week and within the tweet was a reasonably sized image of the cover art.  I was hooked in straight away and clicked through to discover more (after retweeting!).  This is the book I spotted:

“Evil poisons everyone. Period. Our mouths water when we sink our teeth into what we have always craved. Surrendering to our desires by biting off a delectable piece of the forbidden fruit is nothing more than a meager confession: Poison tastes sinfully sweet,”—Confessions of the Big Apple Debutante, by blogger Miss Snow White. Here is my contribution for this week:

A couple of weeks ago, Barb spotted Halfway Dead by Terry Maggert on her Friday Five search, and I had hit the BUY button before reaching the end of her post.  Due to this recent purchase, I received a host of magic related book recommendations from Amazon.  I couldn’t resist having a look (as you do!) and I liked the look of this one:

Here is my contribution for this week:

It’s official; I’ve become a ‘crazy cat lady’.  Six weeks ago we adopted a short haired black kitten which I have named Luna.  She is beautiful, and a total nutter, which means she has fit into the Wilson household incredibly well.  This week I had to take her to the vet to be spayed, and micro chipped.  The huge golden eyes and pathetically sad look on her face have finished me off, and I feel like the worst ‘mommy’ in the world.  I’ve been told that her sad eyes are perfectly normal, and she will recover with no ill effect, but OMG, do I feel bad.  So, as I have ‘kitten’ on the brain I thought this would make a good search topic, and I found this adorable children’s book:

Here is my contribution for this week:

Yesterday, I was on my first radio show.  I got to spend two hours in the studio listening to fantastic music and talking about my books.  So I used this experience as inspiration for my Friday Five and searched for ‘Radio’ on Amazon. I found this:
