Author Interview: Emma Lamb @Emma1293 #Fantasy #TuesdayBookBlog

Today I’m joined by Emma Lamb, an author from North Wales. Emma works in a small shop and started writing in lockdown as a way to entertain herself.

What genre is your book, and what is it about?

My book is a fantasy and is called The Awakening of the Light. The story is about a girl named Victoria who thinks she is just a normal girl living in the Kingdom of Beltophia until her life changes one day and her powers awaken. She discovers that she’s the vessel for the entity known as ‘The Light’ and that she has a destiny to defeat The Darkness.

What or who inspired you to write this book?

I love watching TV shows like Doctor Who and Merlin. Fantasy and sci-fi shows are my favourites, so I think inspiration came from what I watch. Supernatural’s final season aired in 2020, and I gained more inspiration from that TV series, which was when I started writing my book series.

What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?

Honestly, I’d say don’t wait around for inspiration, just write. Even if it’s a few lines or a messy draft, it all adds up. Perfection comes later in editing. And don’t be too hard on yourself; every author you admire started with rough drafts.

What do you enjoy most about writing and why?

I love how writing lets me escape into another world. It’s like getting to know new people (my characters) and watching their stories unfold. Sometimes they even surprise me, and that’s the best part. Plus, knowing readers might connect with them the same way I do makes it even more special.

List three interesting facts about yourself.

  • My favourite food is pasta.
  • I’ve done my ancestry and found that I’m related to William the Conqueror!
  • My favourite movie when I was a child was The Lion King!

What is your least favourite part of the publishing/writing process, and how do you manage this?

I would say it’s the publishing part itself. Because it is hard to find the right publisher. It’s not easy as some independent publishers operate more to take your money than to genuinely support your work, so you have to be careful and do your research.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Review! I think that is important! But also word of mouth! Share the book with those you know!

What is your next project?

I’m working on writing the third book in the A Tale of Two Forces series. The next book is complete and is now being edited.
