Today is a fabulous day! It’s official. I’m a finalist in the Romantic Novelists’ Association Awards 2025 in the Debut Romantic Novel Category with Floating Solo

WOO HOO!!! I can’t begin to tell you how flippin’ happy I am that my debut romance got through to the final five! When I started this book, I was full of self-doubt, but I believed in the characters and the story – and I had amazing support from my awesome family, friends, and editor!

The awards evening is on Monday 19th May in London, and I can’t wait to be in a room full of amazing authors.

Author Shelley Wilson has been shortlisted in the Debut Romantic Novel Award category with her novel, Floating Solo, for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) Romantic Novel Awards 2025. The awards celebrate excellence in romantic fiction in all its forms.

Shelley Wilson is a multi-genre author and a writing mentor for new writers who want to share their stories but don’t know where to start. Shelley is a proud mum of three and lives in the West Midlands, UK. She loves solo travelling in her VW camper, walking, and obsessing over to-do lists.

She commented, “I was in the pouring rain on my way to Birmingham New Street Station when I found out I’d been shortlisted. There may have been a giddy dancing in the rain moment! Being a part of the RNA Awards feels like a dream come true.”

The Chair of the RNA, Seána Talbot said: “This year’s shortlist is a tremendous testament to romantic fiction’s diversity and strength. We are proud to celebrate these outstanding books and this exciting mix of new and established writers. They make a vital contribution to this popular, much-loved genre.”

To be part of the RNA Awards is a huge achievement. I’ve watched many dear friends and fellow authors create stunning books and win awards with this supportive association. It’s an honour to be able to step into this world.
