With the weekend approaching it’s the perfect time to seek out new books to read, so I’ve created the Friday Book Share Game to help search for that ideal novel.
Anyone can have a go – all you need to do is answer the following questions based on a book you enjoyed reading and use the hashtag #FridayBookShare. Be sure to like, comment, and share other participants posts.
First line of the book.
Recruit fans by adding the book blurb.
Introduce the main character using only three words.
Delightful design (add the cover image of the book).
Audience appeal (who would enjoy reading this book?)
Your favourite line/scene.
Here’s mine:
I am desperate to read the second book in Victoria Aveyard’s series, Glass Sword, but it’s a while since I read book one, Red Queen, so I thought I’d have a quick re-cap.
First line – I hate First Friday. It makes the village crowded, and now, in the heat of high summer, that’s the last thing anyone wants.
Recruit fans by adding the book blurb –
This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.
The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.
That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.
Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.
But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart . . .
Introduce the main character – Mare is feisty, strong, and brave
Delightful Design –
Audience appeal – Perfect for fans of YA fantasy, dystopian, Sword & Sorcery.
Your favourite line/scene –
I look at my hands, my arms, marvelling at the lightning as it glides over me. Cloth burns away, charred black by the heat, but my skin doesn’t change. The shield keeps trying to kill me, but it can’t.
Everything is wrong.
I am alive.
Sounds intriguing. Very appropriate first line. Love the blurb and extract. I’ll let my daughter(30) know. She loves fantasy!

I’ve read a lot of good comments about this book, but haven’t read it myself. May have to add to the towering TBR.

This is HIGH on my list of must reads, sigh. So SO many books. I do really want to read this one though, I nearly picked it up the other day but bought miss peregrine instead.
