I was interviewed by 10 year old Violet a few weeks ago as she wanted to learn more about writing and publishing. She told me how she didn’t like writing stories for school because she had to make sure they were full of adjectives, fronted adverbials, etc. She lost her creativity and passion for writing.

By the end of our chat I’d convinced her to write me a book review for her favourite book and told her I’d publish it on my blog. She was pretty excited!

Today, I’m delighted to share Violet’s first book review. She chose The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverly.

The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverly

Violet’s rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was fun to read because the plot was an amazing mystery with realistic characters. The fact that she had to pretend to be her sister was very mysterious. At points I thought that I knew the next bit but it turned out to be something else entirely! I was so happy about the ending that I wanted to read the next one as soon as I could go back to the library.

The book had lots of characters, the author was so descriptive, I could visualise everything in my head clearly. The main character was so adventurous and she did a good job at pretending to be her sister. It was all so mysterious but as the book went on, things started to make sense.

There were clues to solve whilst being forced to live life as her sister. She had to find out what really happened to her sister and her ‘death’ working out who to trust, who to ignore and who could help her and I think she did a pretty good job on that.

All through the book, there was a new plot twist or puzzle to solve, like a never ending jigsaw. This is a five-star book and I would recommend this book to those who love adventure but can brave a bit of mystery too.

I can’t wait to read the next book ‘Whispers in the walls’. I hope that it has a good plot just like this one.
