It’s Publication Day for Summer Detour! #romance #TuesdayBookBlog #newrelease

Summer Detour is out TODAY, and it’s been quite the journey!

When I published Floating Solo in 2024, I honestly thought it was going to be my one and only romance novel, but my readers had other ideas.

Not only was the feedback amazing for my debut romance, but it reached the finals in the Romantic Novelists’ Association Debut Romance Award Category and the BBNYAs.

In my mind, I was going to quietly publish a romance and then slink back into my dark fantasy and Viking adventures, but then more romance characters started running riot around my brain, and I ended up jumping headfirst into the next two novels.

Summer Detour is my second romance novel and another travel themed adventure. This time, our characters are thrown together in a motorhome on a road trip around Yorkshire.

(If you want to see my Campervan Writer Podcast episode where I research the exact motorhome I use in the book, click HERE).

The setting was an easy choice for me as a proud Yorkshire lass. The tour kicks off in Leeds City Centre, with stop-offs in Haworth, Skipton, Grassington, Richmond, Pickering, Scarborough, and many other amazing places.

Most of the places our characters visit are spots I’ve been to in Snoopy, my VW camper, but I also dragged my parents along on some of my research trips.

So, what can you expect in Summer Detour?

Close proximity

Enemies to lovers

Dual POV

A smidge of spice!

Here’s the blurb:

She’s chasing stories. He’s chasing order and structure. Neither expects to find love on the open road.

When struggling historical romance author Charlie Young agrees to a motorhome road trip around Yorkshire for singles, she hopes inspiration will strike. Instead, she’s stuck with grumpy lawyer Ben Henshaw, who treats the adventure like a courtroom battle.

Between endless bickering, close proximity, and bumpy roads ahead, tensions begin to simmer. As secrets are shared, friendships forged, and sparks ignite, Charlie starts to wonder if this road trip might lead to the happy ever after she’d been writing about all along.

What’s next? I’ve already submitted my third romance to my editor, which should be out this October, and then I’m heading back to 866 AD to work on another Viking novel, but don’t worry, there will be more romances coming…watch this space!
